Experience byssus in its purified fibre form before it is transformed into an Acoustic Byssus Core.

The Byssus Jar contains our naturally processed material, internally referred to as Seawool, following Seastex's proprietary cleaning process. Byssus is a natural protein fibre produced by mussels to anchor themselves within the marine environment and is ordinarily removed as a by-product during industrial mussel processing.

Soft, fibrous and naturally golden-brown in appearance, this sample allows architects, designers and material researchers to physically explore the material at the heart of Seastex's acoustic products.
