Byssup™ begins in the cold coastal waters of Scotland, where Mytilus edulis mussels are responsibly cultivated by a network of 37 mussel farming partners across Shetland, Sutherland and Argyllshire. The byssus generated during mussel processing is recovered rather than discarded and transported to Seastex in Glasgow, where it is transformed through our proprietary natural cleaning and processing methods into a refined, high-purity marine ingredient.
