Mussels produce strong protein fibres called byssus, or “beards”, which act like tiny ropes to anchor them underwater. When mussels are harvested for food, these inedible fibres are mechanically removed during cleaning. The byssus is then collected as a by-product and typically discarded.

Acoustic Byssus Core Panels enhance performance, safety and circularity.
Our revolutionary line of byssus panels transform recovered mussel byssus into high-performance acoustic products. Naturally flame-retardant, biodegradable and binder-free, the pure byssus core provides excellent sound absorption and thermal insulation, with a density of 188 kg/m³. Completely circular by design, the panels are customisable in size, fabric and installation.

The London Design Festival marked the launch of Seastex
It provided us with a remarkable opportunity to introduce our innovative products to the world. As part of the festival, we were proud to be part of the London Design Fair which took place in the vibrant neighbourhood of Shoreditch at the Truman Brewery. From the 21st to the 24th of September 2023, visitors could find us at stand 2C30, where we showcased 18 of our acoustic panels.
In Europe we launched our products in 2024, on the 25th edition of Salone Satellite, part of Salone Del Mobile's 62nd edition in Milan, Italy. As one of the largest trade fairs of its kind, it offered a chance to connect with industry leaders, explore the latest trends, and reunite with our international design friends.
