As an Electrical Engineer at Seastex, you will play a critical role in advancing our proprietary byssus-processing technology from TRL7 to TRL9, ensuring that all electrical systems are designed, installed, and validated to meet industrial performance, safety, and compliance standards for deployment in the UK and internationally.
This is a hands-on industrial engineering role, with approximately 30% office-based work focused on electrical system design, specification, documentation, and collaboration with mechanical engineers, and 70% practical, on-site work installing, wiring, testing, and commissioning electrical components on prototype and production-ready machinery.
You will work closely with the Mechanical Engineering team to ensure that motors, drives, sensors, control panels, safety circuits, and operator interfaces are correctly specified for mechanical loads, forces, processing requirements, and duty cycles. You will also support the transition from prototype builds through industrial validation to TRL9, capturing all technical data, lessons learned, and best practices so systems can be reliably replicated as Seastex scales production in the coming years.
This role is ideal for an electrical engineer who enjoys building real machines, solving integration challenges, and taking ownership of electrical systems from early prototype through to industrial deployment.
