Seastex Acoustic Byssus Core (ABC) Wall & Ceiling Panels transform an overlooked marine by-product into high-performance acoustic surfaces for interior architecture.
At the heart of every panel is a pure byssus core, produced from natural fibres recovered from the mussel industry and processed in Scotland using Seastex's proprietary technologies. The core is housed within a precision-fabricated aluminium frame and finished with a specified acoustic textile to create a refined architectural panel system.
Designed for walls and ceilings, ABC Panels combine sound absorption, material circularity and bespoke fabrication within a system developed for commercial, hospitality, workplace and other interior environments.
Made in Glasgow, Scotland.

ABC Panels are available across a broad range of standard dimensions and can also be developed around specific architectural requirements.
Selecting from our standard panel dimensions helps reduce material waste by minimising unnecessary aluminium, byssus and textile offcuts. Bespoke dimensions can be explored where required.

The natural fibrous structure of the byssus core provides effective sound absorption across a broad frequency range, helping reduce reverberation and improve acoustic comfort within interior spaces.
ABC Panels are undergoing continued independent acoustic characterisation, with updated EN ISO 354 performance data being incorporated into our technical documentation.

Designed for Walls
ABC Panels can be installed across suitable wall constructions using mounting brackets designed around the requirements of the project. Seastex can develop fixed, detachable, pivoting or tilting solutions depending on the application.
Designed for Ceilings
ABC Panels can be integrated with suspended metal ceiling systems using adjustable frame grooves and coupling brackets. Seastex works with contractors to determine the appropriate mounting arrangement around architectural and M&E requirements.

ABC Panels can be upholstered in a wide range of fabrics between 0.7 and 3 mm in thickness, allowing the acoustic system to be coordinated with the wider interior design scheme. We recommend natural fabrics, recycled-content textiles and materials with low synthetic content wherever possible.
Our recommended standard upholstery is Camira Main Line Flax, composed of 75% virgin wool and 25% flax. Alternative specified fabrics can be evaluated by Seastex for compatibility with our fabric-fix system.

Our Acoustic Byssus Core begins with mussels cultivated in the coastal waters of Scotland. During mussel processing, the byssus fibres are removed as an inedible by-product that would otherwise have no value.
Seastex recovers this natural resource through its network of Scottish mussel farming partners and transforms it in Glasgow using proprietary cleaning and processing technologies.
The resulting byssus fibres become the core of our acoustic products, creating a direct material journey from Scottish aquaculture to contemporary interior architecture and keeping a valuable biological resource in circulation.
