BAS-RELIEFS
Our founders’ very first idea for byssus was inspired by the way ancient cultures commemorated great campaigns, natural events, and leaders through bas-relief carvings in stone. This became the inspiration for our first experiments with byssus fibres in early 2021. Drawing from these ancient techniques, we began developing moulds with patterns and symbols using modern tools such as software and 3D printing. These early experiments laid the foundation for Seastex’s product offering.
In 2026, our founder, who trained for four years in visual arts in an after-school programme during high school, returns to his roots, creating works with little more than imagination, simple tools, and an abundance of byssus fibres. Shaped in Glasgow, Scotland, these made-to-measure acoustic artworks represent a harmonious blend of craftsmanship, sustainability, and in-house developed, all-natural cleaning methods and technology.
Contact us for bespoke shapes, sizes, and designs for feature works within interior and architectural projects, as well as for collection pieces for art galleries, museums, and private collectors.
