Byssup™ is a rare, eco-friendly, golden protein powder derived from the byssus of Mytilus edulis (Blue Mussel). The Byssus are sustainably harvested in the UK from rope cultured mussels in cold Scottish waters.

Byssup™ is a high-purity byssus powder that can be used as a natural golden pigment, texturiser, bulking agent, or skin conditioning agent (Miscellaneous), and may also serve as a feedstock for the extraction of amino acids and peptides. It is developed for high-performance, bio-based applications in advanced formulations and materials innovation.

Rich in proteins and naturally occurring amino acids like hydroxyproline, glycine, proline and 13+ others, it offers significant opportunities for novel product R&D.
